After forty years in the engineering industry, I have recently retired and have begun to refocus how I want to spend the rest of my life. I have many interests and therefore have little apprehension about becoming bored.
After thinking about what it is in my life that keeps me from becoming bored, I have come to realize that my greatest passion is to learn. Excitement to me is to learn something new. Zen folks call this – beginners’ mind – the ability to look at things with an enduring newness – having an attitude of openness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions.
One of my interests is photography. During the last few years I became aware that my photographs had started to take on a more tranquil flavor. I had become more patient with the subjects I was shooting and found that I was more successful when I looked for simplicity, often resulting in what you might call the essence of the subject. This nowadays is called Contemplative Photography.
As with music and art of all kinds, the intent of this blog is not so much to present form and beauty but to evoke feeling.

Your work is stunning Ron. Enjoyed it greatly! Keep shooting when you say to yourself, “Yes, there’s endless things to capture with the lens!” Kathy Sater-Partch
Kathy,
You are very kind.

To me it seems that you manage well to keep the quietness within your images. Something which I enjoyed the most.
Keep it up!

Thank you very much as that is my goal. To find the still point.

I’ve found myself taking more time to photograph scenes and waiting for the “feeling” of the place to become apparent to me. Without this, its just point and shoot. Good luck with your new pursuit!
